Rukades is an informational beauty tool that helps users scan skincare and cosmetic products, review ingredient information, understand product scores, save account-linked activity, and access optional Premium features. This Privacy Policy explains how Rukades collects, uses, stores, shares, and protects information when you use the Rukades mobile app, the Rukades website, or contact Rukades support.
This policy is intended to help users, App Store reviewers, and Google Play reviewers understand Rukades' data practices. Rukades does not sell personal information and does not use personal information for third-party advertising or cross-app or cross-site advertising tracking.

Account and Authentication Information
Some Rukades features require an account. Depending on how you sign in, Rukades may process information such as your chosen username, an internal Rukades account identifier, authentication records, and provider identifiers from supported sign-in methods such as Apple or Google. If an authentication provider makes profile information available to Rukades, such as an email address or display name, that information may also be processed as needed for sign-in, account security, or account display.
Rukades uses account information to authenticate you, keep your account secure, associate your app data with the correct Rukades account, prevent unauthorized access, and provide account-based features across supported devices and platforms.
Information You Provide
You may provide information directly to Rukades when you use certain features:
- Account information: information you enter when creating or maintaining a Rukades account, including a username and other information required by the selected sign-in method.
- Support requests: your name, email address, selected topic, and message when you submit the support form or email Rukades.
- Product submissions: product names, brand names, categories or product types, barcode numbers, product images, ingredient lists, and related information you choose to submit.
- Feedback and corrections: information you provide when suggesting product, barcode, ingredient, or other corrections.
Account-Linked App Data
To provide account-based features, Rukades may associate app activity with your Rukades account. This may include product scan history, products opened through Product Search, favorites, product submissions, recommendation-related product context, and server-side usage information needed to apply account feature limits such as daily scan limits.
This information is used to provide your History and Favorites, maintain continuity across sessions or supported devices, enforce Free and Premium feature rules, and improve the reliability of account-based features.
Premium and Subscription Verification
If you purchase or restore Rukades Premium through Apple's App Store or Google Play, Rukades may receive or process limited subscription information needed to verify and maintain your Premium entitlement. This may include the marketplace, subscription product identifier, transaction or purchase identifier or token, verification result, subscription status, and entitlement or expiration-related information.
Rukades uses this information to determine whether Premium is active for the appropriate Rukades account, restore eligible access, prevent entitlement abuse or incorrect transfers, and keep Premium status consistent across supported Rukades platforms where applicable.
Marketplace payments are processed by Apple or Google. Rukades does not receive your full payment-card number, marketplace account password, or other complete payment credentials from those marketplaces. Your purchase is also subject to the privacy practices and terms of the marketplace through which it was made.
Information Collected Automatically
When you use the app or website, limited technical information may be processed automatically to operate, secure, and troubleshoot Rukades. This may include:
- basic device and browser information, such as device type, operating system, browser type, and app version;
- network and request information, such as IP address, timestamps, and server logs;
- diagnostic information, such as errors, crash details, and performance signals;
- general usage events needed to understand whether app features are working properly.
Rukades uses this information for reliability, security, debugging, abuse prevention, and product improvement. Rukades does not use this information to track users across third-party apps or websites for advertising.
Camera, Photos, and Barcode Scanning
Rukades may request camera permission so you can scan barcodes or capture product photos. Camera access is optional and controlled by your device settings. Rukades does not access your camera unless you grant permission.
Barcode scanning is used to identify products. Product photos may be used to help identify, review, moderate, or improve product records. If you do not want to share a product photo, do not submit that photo through the app.
Product and Ingredient Data
Rukades may store product and ingredient information in its product database. This may include barcode numbers, product names, brands, categories, product photos, ingredient names, and other product facts. Product data may be used to provide results and improve product lookup and ingredient coverage for users.
Product and ingredient information is generally not treated as personal information unless it is submitted together with information that identifies you. Please do not submit personal information inside product names, ingredient fields, or product photos.
Support Messages
When you contact support, Rukades collects the contact details and message content you provide. This information is used to respond to your request, investigate issues, improve Rukades, and maintain support records.
Support messages may be delivered through email service providers. If you include sensitive information in a support message, that information will be processed as part of the support request.
How Rukades Uses Information
Rukades uses information for the following purposes:
- to create, authenticate, secure, and maintain Rukades accounts;
- to scan, identify, and display products;
- to show ingredient information, product scores, product history, favorites, and product alternatives;
- to maintain and improve the product database;
- to process product submissions, corrections, and ingredient feedback;
- to enforce account-based Free and Premium feature rules and verify Premium entitlements;
- to respond to support, privacy, and account deletion requests;
- to detect bugs, diagnose errors, prevent misuse, and improve performance and reliability;
- to protect the app, website, backend, users, and service providers from misuse, spam, fraud, or security issues;
- to comply with legal obligations and enforce applicable terms.
Legal Bases for Processing
Where privacy laws require a legal basis, Rukades processes information based on one or more of the following:
- Consent: for permissions such as camera access or information you voluntarily submit where consent is the appropriate basis.
- Contract or requested service: to create and operate your account, provide app features, verify Premium access, perform product lookup, and respond to support requests.
- Legitimate interests: to maintain, secure, debug, prevent abuse, and improve Rukades where those interests are not overridden by applicable privacy rights.
- Legal obligations: when processing is needed to comply with applicable law or valid legal requests.
Third-Party Service Providers
Rukades uses service providers and platform providers to operate the app and website. These providers may process information as needed to provide their services to Rukades or to you.
- Supabase: backend infrastructure, database services, storage, authentication-related infrastructure, account data, product data, and support request processing.
- Resend: support email delivery and related email infrastructure.
- Vercel: website hosting, deployment, logs, and related infrastructure.
- Apple: App Store distribution, Sign in with Apple where used, subscription purchase and verification services, device permission controls, and other platform services when you use the iOS app.
- Google: Google sign-in where used, Google Play distribution, subscription purchase and verification services, and other platform services when you use the Android app or Google services.
These providers may process technical or account-related information such as IP addresses, timestamps, request logs, authentication identifiers, diagnostics, or marketplace transaction identifiers as part of their services. Their processing is also subject to their own privacy policies and applicable terms.
Sharing of Information
Rukades does not sell personal information. Rukades may share information in the following limited circumstances:
- with service providers and platform providers that help operate the app, website, authentication, backend, database, storage, email, or subscription systems;
- when needed to provide a feature you request, verify a purchase, or respond to a support, privacy, or deletion request;
- when required by law, legal process, or a valid government request;
- to protect the rights, privacy, safety, or security of Rukades, users, service providers, or others;
- as part of a business transfer, merger, acquisition, restructuring, or similar transaction, if applicable.
Tracking and Advertising
Rukades does not use personal information to track you across third-party apps or websites for advertising and does not sell personal information to advertisers. If Rukades adds analytics, advertising, or tracking features in the future, this Privacy Policy and any required App Store privacy or Google Play Data safety disclosures will be updated as appropriate.
Cookies and Website Technologies
The Rukades website is hosted on Vercel and may process basic technical information needed to serve pages, maintain security, and understand server performance. Rukades does not currently use the website to place third-party advertising cookies. Some hosting or security infrastructure may use necessary technologies to deliver and protect the website.
Data Retention
Rukades keeps information only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this policy. Retention periods may vary depending on the type of information:
- Account information and account-linked data: generally retained while your account remains active and as needed to provide account features. When an account is deleted, account-linked personal information is deleted or de-identified as appropriate, subject to limited legal, security, fraud-prevention, dispute, or transaction-record retention needs.
- Subscription verification records: may be retained as needed to verify entitlement history, handle refunds or revocations, prevent abuse, resolve disputes, and meet marketplace or legal requirements.
- Support messages: kept as long as reasonably needed to respond, maintain support history, and resolve issues.
- Product database information: may be retained for as long as needed to operate and improve product lookup and ingredient coverage. Shared product facts that no longer identify you may remain in the product database after account deletion.
- Technical logs: retained for limited periods needed for security, debugging, abuse prevention, and service reliability.
- Legal records: retained as needed to comply with legal obligations or resolve disputes.
Security
Rukades uses reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational measures to protect information. However, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure. Rukades cannot guarantee absolute security of information.
International Processing
Rukades and its service providers may process information in countries other than your country of residence. These countries may have different data protection laws. Where required, Rukades relies on applicable legal mechanisms for international processing or transfers.
Your Choices and Rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to request access, correction, deletion, restriction, objection, or portability of personal information. You may also have the right to withdraw consent where processing is based on consent.
You can control app permissions, including camera access, in your device settings. You can also delete your Rukades account in the app or contact Rukades regarding privacy rights or information associated with your account, support messages, or submitted data. Some requests may be limited by legal, security, fraud-prevention, transaction-record, or operational requirements.
Account Deletion and Data Requests
Rukades provides an in-app account deletion option. You can also review the external deletion instructions or request deletion through the Rukades Account Deletion page.
Deleting a Rukades account is separate from cancelling an App Store or Google Play subscription. If you have an active subscription, you must manage or cancel it through the marketplace through which it was purchased.
Children's Privacy
Rukades is not intended for children under 13. Rukades does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided personal information, contact Rukades at rukadessupport@gmail.com so the information can be reviewed and deleted where appropriate.
